Gun hater predictions:
Wrong every time

Last month, as a retired Illinois State Trooper, I shot a qualification course for a retired police officer concealed carry permit at the Illinois State Police range at Pawnee, Il.

It was a pleasant experience compared to last year when it was extremely cold.  State Police range officers did an outstanding job in explaining the course of fire which had changed from last year.  As a former range officer at that facility before I retired, I could appreciate their expertise and professionalism.  The Illinois State Police can be proud of these fine ladies and gentlemen.

It has been over a year since President George W. Bush signed H.R.218, the "Law Enforcement Officers Safety Act" into law. Gun control advocates, prior to President Bush's signing the Bill, raised a hue and cry, warning of dire consequences if this law was passed.  After a year has passed, their panicked predictions have again been proved wrong as has been the case so many times before when state after state passed concealed carry laws for its private citizens and afterwards there were no gunfights at the grocery stores.

I have to wonder about the mentality of gun control advocates who have been wrong so many times in the past.  Do these people actually think a police officer who has served 20-30 years or more will suddenly become a monster the day after he retires, or that an active duty officer out of his jurisdiction with an off duty gun will suddenly go berserk?

The gun control advocates reasoning makes no rhyme or reason to me or many others.  Their arguments from what I have heard seem to be based on hyping the emotions while ignoring the facts.
